Over 200 runners took part in second edition of "Wild West Run" Trail Half Marathon from Kenmare to Muckross in Killarney.

13.1 mile course was a mix of road, trail, mud, stones and in some cases water obstacles. In good running (in many places hiking conditions) with great support and marshaling (Kenmare AC, An Riocht & Spa Mucross, GG) this event was really enjoined by participants.

Winner of 2012 edition - James Doran of Riocht AC, complete course in 1h34m!

Artur Nowak of St.Brendan's AC finished in 2h24m (placed 131).

Code of Ethics & Good Practice for Children in Sport

Athletics Ireland is fully committed to ensuring that young people are safeguarded in their participation in athletics in Ireland. Early experiences of young athletes in our sport need to be positive and enjoyable, irrespective of their ability, gender, social or ethnic background.

St.Brendan's AC is the first athletics club in Kerry to avail of the "Code of Ethics & Good Practice for Children in Sport" course which, since January 2012, has been available for delivery to clubs nationwide free of charge. 10 coaches and committee members participated in course.
The "Code of Ethics & Good Practice for Children in Sport"
course is three hours in duration and is a requirement for anyone attending an Athletics Ireland Coaching Course.
Big thank you to Moira Aston for making this course very interesting and informative and Orla for organising/making this happen.

Tralee International Marathon 2013

It has been announced recently that there is going to be a new Marathon in the town of Tralee in 2013. The planned date is the 16th of March and it looks as if it will incorporate a Half-Marathon as well. The event is going to be called the Tralee International Marathon. No planned route yet.

So there is a plenty of time to start training for this event, starting with Banna 10K Road Race in August and build up distance for Half or Full Marathon in March 2013.
