Kingdom Come 10Miler & 5K

An Riocht hosted their second annual Lee Strand Kingdom Come 10 mile Road Race on Sunday 21st April with the new addition of a 5K road race. It was a well attended event and weather conditions were fairly good for running - small patches of rain, but nice and cool.
A well organised and supported event and feedback from participants was very positive - very good value for money!

Blennerville 5K Fun Run and Walk

Congratulations to all the participants of the 5K Fun run/walk in Blennerville in aid of Derryquey NS which took place on Friday, 19 April 2013.
It was a lovely evening for a run and it was great to see so many  people taking part ranging from runners, joggers and walkers (including buggy pushers!).
As usual St.Brendan's AC had a good participation. Shane Lowth came 2nd overall (and first juvenile) - very impressive performance, losing out only to the acclaimed runner John Griffin. Darragh Lowth kept it in the family and came in 4th overall and Dad Paul Lowth also had a top 10 finish. Well done to the Lowth family. Paul Harris was also a top ten finisher. Our own Chris O'Shea and Joanne Malik also put in great performances and STILL manged to help a fallen athlete on the way, showing true sportsmanship. Well done to you both, you had a great result. Ellen Wallace was also in good form, finishing in top half.

Kerry Road Championships 2013

The Kerry Road Championships were held over a 5K course in Caherciveen on 7th of April 2013 and this event was well organised by local club IVERAGH AC. While the course route itself was not that difficult, with only one short pull, a strong, cold wind on part of the course (approx.2km) made this race a real challenge.

Overall winner - John Barrett of Gneeveguilla AC finished just 1 second ahead of Donal O'Callaghan (An Riocht AC) in a sprint finish, ahead of Ed Murphy (Gneeveguilla AC) in 3rd position.

In  the Ladies category, Maria McCarthy (FFMV AC) finished first, with club mate Catriona Barry in second, followed by Grace Lynch (Iveragh AC) in third.

St.Brendan's AC had Artur Nowak in M40 category, finishing in 31st place overall.
